What 28 Looks Like
Today, I am 28 years old.
I got new glasses. You like them? Thanks.
Rita took this photo in Miami.
I feel really lucky to be, um, me.
I’m unemployed, I’m not married, I don’t have much to show for myself but…
At 28, I am finally, finally, finally settling into the woman I am. I know her so much better than I ever did. And better than that? I’m really proud of the person she is. There’s still things she has to work on, stuff she’s gotta change, habits she has to break. But she’s come so far from where she started.
Also? Thanks to Miami, she’s got a kickass tan.
Every year for my birthday, I e-mail everyone I’ve ever met and we meet at the same bar and we have lots of fun.
This year, I wasn’t feeling quite a big shindig so sort of last minute, I sent out an e-mail to my nearest and dearest and they showed up at a brand new bar and we just chilled in huge booths and had a lot of laughs.
Thank you, all my beautiful friends for showing up.
Thank you, all you blog readers for showing up here.
I really like having all of you guys in my life.
Because, without you, how would I know what to make for lunch!?
Here’s to 28, you guys!!! Let’s hope it’s just as awesome as last year, except maybe my dad could not break a hip and almost die ‘cuz that SUCKED.
AMIRITE?!!?!
If you’re interested, I finally organized my flickr photos. You can see pictures of my trip to Miami with Rita here. And pictures from my birthday bash here. The birthday pictures are severely lacking as I usually bust out the camera for about 10 minutes and that’s it. I think all the pictures are of me and my sister-in-law because my brother went all papparazzi on us. I am sorry, everyone else who was there. SIGH.
Anyway, it’s time for cupcakes. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!

Many happy returns! The best is yet to come, believe me!
YES! Happy birthday to you! I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to make it out to celebrate but we need a la-di-dah lady-date soon. Pleeeeeeeez? Maybe next week? Or you could come down to the FiDi for lunch one day, my treat!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LA-URA! Love you, cheerleader.
Happy that you’re happy, sad that I’m no longer on the “nearest, dearest,” list but then again, I’m still happy you’re happy.
Call you later!
xoxo
Happy Birthday Laura. I’ll eat a red velvet cupcake in your honor.
I haven’t checked my email in ages, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t miss a birthday invitation this time around (like I did last year), as I’m fairly certain that I’m not one of your nearest and dearest. Happy birthday, anyway, Laura! I hope you had an avocado birthday cake.
