That Monday Post.

MAH PEEPS.

How was your weekend?

I had dinner with a friend on Friday night and talked at length about shifting career gears which was scary and terrifying but also helpful, productive and necessary.

Saturday, I learned some Italiano (PAST TENSE IS KILLING ME), went WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING WITH ALAYNA SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE BRIDES POOFY GLITTER LUV and then ate some Thai food and saw Pee Wee’s Playhouse on Broadway with my friend Dan.

Yesterday, I hung out with the twins and by hung out, I mean I let them play too much Wii because my ankle and knee are still busted. I elevated my leg on some pillows with an ice pack, busted open a package of cookies and watched the twins kick some serious ass on A Boy and His Blob. They won’t let me play because I’m not very good at it.

HOWEVER, I did get a NEW PHONE THIS WEEKEND!

Cue: Disco ball!

I know! You’re thrilled, amirite?

I decided to:

* Stick with Sprint, despite everyone around me rolling their eyes at the antiquity of it all
* Break up with my Blackberry, which was so hard. BBM, I will always love you.
* Buy a Droid Evo 4G TouchScreen Turns Water Into Wine Phone

BOOM.

The issue, you guys, is that I’m sort of like an old lady about technology. (See also: Sprint.) And honestly, I don’t really care about things like computers and phones and widgets. I’m sort of like, does it work? Can I check my e-mail? Can I listen to music? Can I blog? GREAT. WHAT’S FOR DINNER!? My contract with Sprint was up on October 23rd and that very day, my tech geeky friend JK was like PHONE PHONE GET A NEW PHONE? And I was like Eh, I’m tired.

So, FINALLY THIS WEEKEND, Alayna came with me to purchase the phone. (We were all into big purchases on Saturday. Her: Wedding Dress. Me: Phone. YOU COULD SAY WE HAVE DIFFERENT DEFINITIONS OF ‘BIG’.) I’m sure I am one of those customers that sales people love because I walked into the store, said hi to a guy named Charlie and was like “I think I want a new phone, I think I want that Evo thing ‘cuz I played with one on Friday night and it was shiny and pretty, do you have any in stock?”

And Charlie was all, Yes we do! Do you want to see it?

Me: Nah. I already saw it.

Alayna: Do you want to think about it?

Me: Um. No. I guess I just want to buy it and leave.

Charlie: SWEET.

I’m an easy sell.

So Charlie hooked me up with a phone and told me Sprint is the only carrier in the country with 4G and I was like HOLY SH*T CHARLIE THAT IS UNBELIEVABLE and then turned to Alayna and was like WHAT THE HELL IS THAT AND WHY SHOULD I CARE?!

Alayna patted my hair and then handed me a case to buy for it because I drop things a lot. It was hot pink and bendy. HOW DOES SHE KNOW ME SO WELL?

(Earlier this same day, when I was sitting in a chair as Alayna tried on a few wedding dresses, I remarked to no one in particular but really to Alayna “I NEED A SNACK” and without missing a beat, Alayna retrieved her purse, rifled through it and handed over a Kashi pumpkin granola bar and a Halloween candy bracelet with an edible skull. And this is why we’re friends, people.)

SO I GOT A PHONE.

And I said goodbye to Charlie and I walked down the street and started touching the screen and was like “Um. How do I USE THIS THING?”

Because I had no idea.

It took me 20 minutes to find the Shift key.

NO. I AM NOT JOKING.

But Alayna saved me once again by hooking up the Weather app because weather is something that gives me lots of anxiety so that made me feel better. I couldn’t capitalize any letters but I KNEW THE LOW FOR SATURDAY NIGHT WAS 47. PRIORITIES, PEOPLE.

I’m going nowhere with this story, FYI.

My phone is bright and shiny and in a pink bendy case and I found the Shift key, the CAPSLOCK key, Angry Birds and Google maps. It only took me like, two days. Progress!

So, what did YOU do this weekend?

And what’s for lunch?

I brought some leftover potato leek soup and an organic yellow delicious apple with some slices of cheddar cheese. I’m trying to eat better as my knee/ankle injuries are rendering me practically immobile and I’ve been stuffing my face with candy in an effort to make myself feel better. Guess what? It only makes me feel worse. SURPRISE.

SO! Your turn.

Here’s the cutest bean in the world to brighten your Monday:

  1. I watched TV with my two female roommates and a female friend. They informed me last night that they are my harem. I said, “Then we have to talk, because some harem things have definitely not been happening.” So, I dunno, maybe I’ll get some hot harem action. And then I can scratch that off my Mondo Beyondo list. But I think I would probably just add it back on. Right now it’s in there at #47, right between learning how to swing across chasms on a bullwhip at #46 and buying a ham sandwich at #48.

  2. Friday I’ll work on your knee and ankle with my sweet orthopedic tests that I learned before I pass out at the dinner table. Also, I NEED to know how you made the string bean shrimp thing and this weekend I watch saw 6, bought the cutest shoes, went off roading with matts new jeep, bought toystory 3 and fell asleep in the first 20 minutes and worked. AND this lady Brought In a bunch of shoes for me and some of them are too big for my short stubby legs so you need to try them and take them if you like.

  3. Um. Deb? I love you.

  4. I spent the weekend in New York!
