Resolution Breakdown – April

Posted on April 5th, 2010 in Daily Musings

How are your New Year’s resolutions going, guys?

(I’ve been breaking down my resolutions month by month on here which I’m sure interests no one but me.)

However, March completely tore me apart, knocked me over and slapped me across the face AND THAT WASN’T VERY NICE so I’m giving up all the tiny detailed resolutions and focusing on a few small things. I’m just putting a PAUSE on all the other things because right now, in my fragile emotional state, there’s only a few things I’m going to be able to handle in April.

#1. SLEEP.

I have decided that sleep is going to take precedence over everything else. Just for April. Just to see what it’s like to feel completely well-rested. I figure it’s been a few years since I felt that. And as soon as kids are in the picture, it will go out the window completely for at least 20 years. Audition season is winding down, I have no late night commitments to anything so, WHY NOT NOW? At the ripe old age of Just Turned 27? Exactly. I hereby pledge to go to bed every day at 10 pm.

#2. MEDITATE.

I’m hoping the sleeping will help with the meditating and the meditating will help with the sleeping. We’ll see.

#3. PLANT SOME HERBS ON THE WINDOWSILL.

This is self-explanatory. I’m thinking basil, cilantro and maybe mint in its own pot as it tends to take over everything around it and I don’t want my basil strangled to death. I LOVE YOU, BASIL. For many reasons, I have decided not to re-join my CSA this year. Planting herbs in pots is the first step to making myself feel better about that.

Today, I started a cleanse of sorts, which I have done a few times before. I would document it here but I doubt peeps are interested. Basically, it involves abstaining from: alcohol, caffeine, animal products, sugar, gluten.

It’s going well and by well, I mean I have a splitting headache and want to curl up in a ball and nap for years. The first day is always like this though as my body wonders why the hell I won’t go over to my co-worker’s desk and steal some mini Twix bars. BECAUSE YOU CAN DO BETTER, BODY! BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT THAT DELICIOUS MILK CHOCOLATE!

Just trying to clear my mind, get focused, get healthy. Thinking of this as a jumpstart to a renewed commitment to veganism. Blame the spring, my friends. It always does this to me. Suddenly, glorious cheese just seems gloriously…gross.

That’s it.

That’s all, you guys.

Sleep. Meditate. Basil. Cleanse.

April is going to be that kind of month.

Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s late in the afternoon which means it’s almost time for bed. Me and my sleep mask wish you sweet dreams.

  1. You quitting the CSA reminds me that you promised to feed me many tomatoes last year. I feel gyped!

Good luck with the cleanse. It sounds awesome. And horrid.

  2. I have a huge headache and am off to hot yoga to sweat out my toxins. IF THERE ARE ANY LEFT OH MY GOD.
