Let’s Try That Again
Okayyy so my first foray into Flashback Friday didn’t work. I sat down to write and then THREE HOURS LATER, realized I wasn’t typing a blog post at all. I wasn’t even typing a short story. I was typing CHAPTERS of something. A memoir? A novel? I have NO IDEA.
This was really bad for the blog and for my alleged “new thing”, Flashback Fridays.
However, it was really good for me personally because I realized I COULD write more than a blog post. I could keep…writing. I had something to SAY. I could make it into something BIGGER! SOMETHING MORE THAN ME!
So I saved the post and ate a bowl of cereal.
It still isn’t finished, I’m not sure it will ever make it up here but HEY! Progress on the writing front, dudes! Rock on.
In other news, the twins’ live right on the Hudson River and in case you hadn’t noticed, we kind of had a plane situation here a few days ago. I showed up to babysit today and their apartment was surrounded my cop cars, ambulances, firetrucks and mobs of tourists taking pictures. The twins’ mom gave me access to the solarium on the 19th floor of the apartment building and I went up to take a look. It was me and ten million reporters with tripods set up, attempting to get some shots of the wreckage/clean-up effort/skyline/who knows. One of them walked away from their coveted spot for a second and I snapped this with my blackberry:

You can see part of the plane among the ice. I wish I had my actual camera with me to get a better shot and yet…woah. Took that with my PHONE!? Technology never ceases to amaze me!
I feel like it’s okay that thousands of people are gaping into the river and taking pictures and getting all up in this business only because nobody got hurt. I have a feeling that if there were major injuries and lives lost, there would be a very different vibe going on. Instead of feeling really sad at the sight of members of the FBI hanging out in the twins’ lobby, I just kind of shrugged. Cool.
I’m going to go sip some tea now and get back to my very exciting Saturday night. (see also: watching Suze Orman, eating Double Stuf oreos, etc.) Check back next week for an actual Flashback Friday.
And for those geeks playing along at home, the RSS Feed should be working now so click that link and subscribe! You wouldn’t want to miss another SCINTILLATING post like this, now would you!?

I agree– if people had been seriously injured, it would be a whole different thing. Instead it’s like, “Whoa! Crazy!”
Although I suspect that no one on that plane is going to be anxious to get on another one anytime soon.
As for the writing, THAT’S AWESOME. Whenever I sit down to write, I just don’t write anything. So whole chapters? That is amazing.
Congrats on your writing. Why not just put up little snippets of it each week? Make us get all excited for the next post…
hihihi xD and now THERE’S AN EYEEEE LOOKING DOWN from the browser :p hihi xD
Laurie - Yeahhhh. I think this would all be really disgusting if people were seriously injured/dead/etc. I doubt I’d feel so good about standing on a rooftop taking pictures. In fact, I’d ask you to slap me because, gross.
Abbie-
SO. TEMPTING. Return each week for the story of Laura and how she cannot stop typing…
Gisele - THAT IS SO COOL!! HOW? I will not question, just looooove on it.
